Here's the fireplace chase

I really screwed up my back while putting in the bottom plates for the fireplace chase. These were a little tougher since they were smaller, and Christine could not help me by standing on them to keep them in place while I drilled the concrete - so I did it myself. I think the contortions I went thru finally made my lower back protest. Oh well - I recovered - it's not as if I blew my back out my lifting too much.

Here's the finished fireplace, with 1/2" OSB down for the platform. I may need to add some additional blocking on the sides (for sheet rock) but I'll leave it open for now to help out when installing the fireplace. Technically, we are all set for the fireplace, but I am holding off on ordering it until Feb.



Not much remains of the lumber! Most of the boards on the right are junk. I've got about one more week to return any bad sticks, then the 90 days are up and I'm stuck with them.



I guess its time to get serious about drafting a design for the bar.
