Another wall is built

Today I completed (mostly) the main dividing wall. The frame for the french doors is in. See below (click to enlarge)

The plate running thru the doorway opening is not bolted and will be cut out later. The section of wall underneath the HVAC vents is not complete, but that is because here I will be placing both a cold air return vent (to feed up to the cold air return line overhead) as well as two air vents to feed air to the furnace and hot water heater. I need to buy the vent frames prior to completing this side of the wall.

I find this project to be quite annoying with my laser eye. I have a strange ability to look at something from 20ft or more and tell if it is perfectly flat, horizontal, or not. Some of this looks crooked or angled to my eyes, but both the measurements to the outside wall (let's hope the builder made the outside wall plumb) and with 90degree angle all say that things are well. I guess this is why you build in an extra inch on each side for shims for the door frame.

Bathroom walls are stalled until Monday. The builder told me they moved the location of where the bathroom plumbing usually goes. I suspect they decided to do this AFTER they poured the footers, as you can see below the vent stack comes out from the wall, into the floor at a 90 degree angle.

This sticks out too far for sheetrock and trim moudling to hide. So I am thinking about placing the bathroom wall plate, and another on top of it, directly on top of this pipe so conceal it. See below:

The problem with this idea is that now the wall is only 15" from the toilet centerline, which, according to international building codes, is the minimum. But in the rest of the house, this space is 18". So I need to call the town codes department to see what the rule is, and then decide what I want to do.

This whole project so far is covering up imperfections. My key learning from this project is that nothing in a basement is perfect specs. Due to poured concrete, settling, etc., nothing is perfectly level or straight......
