About the only thing I cannot futureproof at this stage is the AC/Heat Pump freon lines. If I ever have to get new lines installed, it will be tricky, as access will be tight, but doable.
Jeeze - another hole in the house. That's the seventh one so far.... (click to expand)

Assembling th weatherproof (and sun proof - this is a metal box) box

Metal box connected to the smurftube

Waiting for the caulk to dry

Installed box

I'm collecting boxes on the side of my house! From left to right:
- Power for AC/Heat Pump
- Future expansion box (new)
- Basement Fireplace vent (new)
- Electricty meter
- Generator connector (to transfer switch) (new)
- Phone
- Cable TV

The smurftube does not run all the way to the utility room, but about 10 feet into the soffit where the ceiling may be removed for access.

As a side project, I insulated the water main (see black foam)

This morning I assembled a new, but somewhat cheap, gas grill, as our previous one suffered too many years rusting in Florida and getting blown over by wind in KC. I bought a Kenmore grill (!!! Kenmore!) because it seemed the sturdiest, but in general, you cannot buy a good grill anymore - all made in China stuff. We bought a relatively inexpensive one as we plan to build a more permanent grill in a year or two - but that's a future project and I have my hands full with this basement project!
Off to add more insulation....hoping to start the sheetrock next weekend
