Utilities are mostly complete!

The past week I started to pre-run the 'shadow plumbing system' so that when the plumber arrived today to move the natural gas lines, he could help me cut over. So let's see how this all worked out.

Below is the before:

Now the After: The blue lines are the Cat5e network cable that is being used for the phone - the TV cable has already been moved next to the I-Beam.

The all important junction under the stairs where I need space to install the french doors. The H2O and TV cable is moved, the NG pipe now goes in thru the joist instead of under it.

The hornet's nest over the hot water heater. Shut-off valves keep the water from flowing to the new bathroom, bar and garage utility sink until they are ready for installation.

Before: the water and natural gas lines that had to be moved so that I could hang sheet-rock for the ceiling.

After: the lines are tucked up in the joists in the corner over the hot air duct.

After: no more protruding water and gas lines. Note the vent stack to the left of the golf clubs bag.

This is the main vent stack for the house. The plumber was nice enough to stick around after the gas work was complete and help me with this. I was a little nervous cutting into the 4" stack to put a T in. The drains from the utility tub and bar sink will drain into this.

This is the vent stack for the half-bath. I was not as concerned about cutting into this one and installing a wye, but the plumber did it for me in about two minutes.

The natural gas line drop for the fireplace.

Punch-down box. I have temporarily re-routed the TV cable, and need to talk to my friend at work who is a phone expert regarding how to disconnect and reconnect two lines so that I can re-run them next to the TV cable. I didn't DARE mess with it tonight since I need the Internet to watch Penn State on ESPN360.com.

Another view of the punchdown box.

So where did all of the plumbing go? Let's just say its very busy now in between the I-beam and the HVAC ducts. I plan to add conduit for the TV cable and phone (will make it easier to replace the cable if ever needed). With all of this jammed in here, this is partly why I decided to also not try to run the gas line thru here, and rather, left it installed where it was.

Next up: Run the plumbing to the utility sink the garage (while I can still access it) and start to paint the basement concrete with epoxy water-sealant paint. And order the skid of building material!

just out of curiosity, hast the basement ever flooded? or is that not much of a problem out there?
