The Radial Arm Saw is here!

Yesterday (2/17/2007) a co-worker delivered to me their Sears Craftsman 10" Radial Arm Saw. As you can see, it comes complete with a cabinet on rollers and shelving for storage. It appears to me that this is a very useful saw - more so than a mitre saw or even a table saw. In fact, the only reason I think I would need a table saw instead of this saw is if I needed to cut something very wide - like a 8' x 4' sheet of plywood in half.

It's nothing fancy, and in fact is probably about 15 or so years old, but it works fine and was much cheaper than buying one new! As you can tell from the photo, the workshop in the garage is coming along nicely. Dad helped me install the cabinets and the workbench top, and I installed the needed oak trim and side panels. All the workbench needs now is trom molding (waiting for the band saw before I do that) and then some staining and clear coat. And eventually, I'll get pegboard installed and some better overhead lighting.
